Gabi, 150009

150009 gabi.JPG

Pepper, 115515

115515-pepper.jpg
Pepper is a good girl who came to us in December after being left in an apartment suite when her owner moved away. Pepper is not quite 3 years old- she likes male cats but would prefer to be the only female cat in her next home. We suspect Pepper will be happiest with older children. Her adoption fee includes her spay, tattoo, vaccine, pet insurance, Rabies vaccine & more!

Yobbo, 150445

150445-yobbo.jpg
Yobbo is a ~3 year old male Australian Shepherd mix found at Grand Beach in November, suspected of having an injured leg or paw. Our veterinary staff were able to determine that thankfully he was not injured, but born with one leg quite a bit shorter than the other- so it appears he favours one leg when he’s standing. We don’t think it will cause him much grief in the future provided he’s kept at a healthy weight. We also found Yobbo was positive for heartworm- he was able to be treated here and we think he’ll be just fine! Yobbo likes cats and dogs and shows great family potential.

Joe & Muffin, 152333/334

152333-joe-152334-muffin.JPG
Joe, a Sheltie mix & Muffin, a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix may look like an odd couple, but once you see them play together, you’ll understand! This very-bonded duo was surrendered because their owner was moving. Both dogs are 3 years old and we are seeking a home together for them with someone experienced with dogs. Joe & Muffin are both very spirited, playful dogs who will need to be the only pets in their home and with kids 16 years old+. Special fee applies.

Gilbert, 81622

081622-gilbert.JPG
Gilbert is a terrific cat who has been waiting for a home since October when his owner dropped him off. Gilbert is declawed and friendly to other cats. Gilbert has very clean litterbox habits and requires an owner who can keep his living quarters neat & tidy. This 5 ½ year-old feline is a bit shy to begin with but once he gets to know you you’ll be good buddies! As a longterm cat his adoption fee has been reduced to $39.50- includes his health exam, vaccine, pet insurance & more!

Cranberry, 152579

152579-cranberry.JPG
Cranberry and 7 of her friends were surrendered to us in December because her owner was ill. Degus are curious and intelligent pets native to Chile. They prefer to live in groups for company- it keeps them happy and active to be with each other! We have a total of 9 degus to place. As a result we’ve temporarily lowered their fee to $6.95 in an effort to place them quickly. Degus can live to be 8 years old+ so we ask adopters to make sure this is something they’ve thought about. If you’re considering a degu, adopt, don’t buy! See staff for more details on degus.

Lacey, 147278

147278-lacey.JPG
Lacey is a sweet girl who came in as a stray in November along with 4 small kittens who have all found homes. Lacey did well in foster care but hasn’t had much luck in finding a home here. As a longterm cat, her adoption fee has been reduced to only $39.50- fee includes her vet exam, spay, Rabies vaccine and more- Lacey has also tested negative for FIV & FeLV! Come & meet your new best friend!

Tika, 148329

148329-tika.jpg
Tika is a bright and energetic young female Labrador Retriever mix. Tika was surrendered due to her owner’s allergies. This 6 month old pup is too smart and active to be kenneled- she needs a home very soon! Tika loves to play tug of war, get belly rubs and is learning how to shake a paw. Tika is expected to do well with other cats & dogs, and because she’s still learning manners is best suited to kids 10 years old+.

Peguis, 152204

152204-peguis.jpg
Peguis was rescued from his ‘home’ underneath the Chief Peguis Trail in the North Kildonan area. This poor kitty was quite frostbitten and required some TLC upon arrival- we expect him to lose the tips of his ears and needed the tip of his tail amputated due to the damage. Despite his injuries, he handled very well for our veterinarian. Peguis is good with other cats and deserves a terrific home. This poor kitty has been through a lot in his two short years of life.

150139 Rhama

150139_rhama.JPG
Rhama is a sweet, special dog who is in need of an owner who will show her some real love. She is a 2 year old Rottweiler cross who loves attention and knows the commands “sit” and “down”. She was turned over to the Humane Society because she doesn’t get along with small dogs and cats, but she will make a wonderful pet for someone who wants an energetic girl who listens well. She will be great in a home with children over 8, and would really blossom with obedience classes. Adoption fee includes spay, first set of shots, 6 weeks of pet insurance and more. Come down and meet this special dog today, you will be making a friend for life!

150434 Mister

150434_mister.JPG
This guy is a real looker! Mister came to The Winnipeg Humane Society as a stray cat and was lucky enough to avoid the winter. His time on the street did not hamper his love for affection, so be ready to pet and play. Mister is a big guy and can get carried away, so he is best in a house with no small children. He seems to get along with other cats and it will be a real treat to brush his long beautiful hair. $79 to adopt a friend for life! Adoption fee includes neuter, first set of shots ID tattoo and more. Please consider taking home Mister and giving him a warm home full of love.

Aura, 145653

145653-aura.JPG
Aura came in as a pregnant stray, found in Transcona in August- she has been with us for over 3 months already! Aura gave birth to 6 kittens in the shelter and was sent to foster care. Aura is a really sweet kitty who is a bit shy and would probably do better with older kids. As a longterm kitty, her adoption fee has been reduced to $48.06- this includes her spay, vaccine, microchip and more! We’d love to see her in a home for the holidays.

Tom, 150865

150865-tom.JPG
Tom is a fantastic dog who would love nothing more than to be on a working farm. This 1 year old Border Collie is incredibly smart and hard working- always seeking his next cue, he’ll require an owner committed to keeping him mentally and physically active. Tom possesses a real herding instinct that would serve well on a ranch or farm but would require some direction in a home setting. Tom is very affectionate, friendly and listens very well- adoption fee of $179.00 includes his neuter, vet exam, vaccine, microchip and more! Due to the fact he’s so smart, he gets bored easily in the shelter and we’d love to send him home soon.

Zippy, 149823

149823-zippy.JPG
Zippy is a really happy-go-lucky, active Labrador Retriever. Zippy is about 3 years old and was found in the Fort Rouge area. We’d love to find the perfect home for Zippy, as he’s finding shelter life pretty boring. We think Zippy would be an ideal companion for a hunter or very active person who can tire this busy boy out. Zippy likes other dogs, but many find him too much to handle- just too busy and wanting to play, play, play! A home of his own in time for Santa Claus is on Zippy’s wish list for 2007… Can you make his Christmas wish come true? $179.00 fee includes neuter, microchip, pet insurance & more!

Tigger, 151426

151426-tigger.JPG
Tigger’s family was moving and brought him here to find a new home. This stunning six-year-old loves to ‘talk’ and is extremely personable & friendly. You’ll wonder how you ever lived without him- $40.00 adoption fee includes his neuter, exam, vaccine, pet insurance & more! Let’s get Tigger home for Christmas, too!

Bumper, 145273

145273-bumper.JPG
The WHS has a “bumper crop” of bunnies needing good homes. We are seeing rabbits like never before- owned, stray and abandoned, rabbits have become another ‘disposable pet’. If you or someone you know is considering a rabbit, please come and talk with our staff on rabbit adoption, ownership and care- they make wonderful pets but are not for everyone/every family. Our rabbit adoption fee of $39.00 includes their spay/neuter- a ~$200.00 value! Bumper was found on the Higgins Avenue loading docks.

Trevor, 150997

150997-trevor.JPG
Trevor is a lively young Spaniel mix found on Black River First Nation. Trevor is a timid pup who will do well with an owner who is willing to provide the guidance and structure a young dog requires. Trevor seems to like other dogs & even cats! Due to the fact he’s a shy guy, Trevor is best suited to kids 8years +. His adoption fee includes his vaccine, microchip, pet insurance, neuter and more!
