Smokey, 152740

Smokey is a very sweet and personable cat who has a deformed right front leg- an xray revealed he lacks a bone in his forearm. His uniqueness sets him apart from the pack- he truly is one in a million! Smokey was surrendered to us in January when his owner left town; he has previously lived with another cat. Smokey is an affectionate and cuddly boy who’s become a favorite of staff and volunteers. This terrific 3 ½ year old boy deserves a great home- adoption fee is reduced as a longterm cat to $39.50 and includes his vet exam, Rabies vaccine, spay/neuter, tattoo and more!

Toby, 158082

Toby is one of our mature cats available for adoption; we currently have ~15 cats aged 7 years+ who need good homes. Toby was surrendered to us in April when his owners moved out of the country; this handsome boy is 11 years old, FIV & FeLV negative and longing for a family again. Senior cat adoption fee is $40.00 and includes their spay/neuter, vet exam, pet insurance and more!

Smokey, 119579

Smokey is a very sweet half of a special pair of kitties awaiting adoption at one of our Satellite Adoption Centres, Petcetera on Regent Avenue. Smokey & her partner Snowflake are ~12 years old & have been waiting for a home for nearly 4 months! They’re here because their owner was moving & couldn’t take them. June is Adopt A Cat Month & we’re desperate to keep this family together. Very special fee for both apply, $34.24. Please call Petcetera for details, 661-0790!

Snow, 118400

Snow is a wonderful boy, as charming as he is handsome! Snow likes other cats & was doing very well as a barn cat in his last home when it was determined this sweetie is likely deaf- not a safe situation for a deaf cat! Snow enjoyed the other cat he was adopted with, but we need a safe, indoor home for this beauty. $48.06 to adopt as a longterm deaf kitty. Includes neuter, vaccine, pet insurance & more!

Fees include vet exam, vaccine, pet insurance, microchip & much more!

Beyond Blackey & Smokey - 10 Great Ideas for Naming Black Dogs

by Randal Breaux

How can you look the dog in the eyes ever again? Every time you call his name, he wallows in shame. You’ve banished him to the lowest level of dog name hell - you’ve named your Lab “Blackey.”

Any four-year-old can explain that a dog’s name should reflect something about him - the way he looks, the way he acts, what he likes to eat… something. So most four-year-olds will take the next most obvious step - naming a black dog Blackey… or Smokey… or something equally inane.
