Saving just one dog won’t change the world…
but it surely will change the world for that one dog.

Zoey, 141625

141625-zoey.JPG
Zoey is an incredibly intelligent Labrador Retriever mix who is eager to please and rarin’ to go! Zoey was surrendered to us on May 30th as she was not getting the time and attention she requires. Being such a smart girl means we have to try harder to keep her occupied & busy- the shelter is not the place for a dog who wants to work and be busy. At only 8 months old, Zoey already knows several commands and is eagerly working on Shake A Paw. Zoey loves to play with other dogs (if they can keep up!) and is good with cats. Our adoption kennel is too stimulating for her, so Zoey is available for adoption from one of our back kennels and can often be found spending her afternoons in the adoption office. $159.00 adoption fee includes her spay, microchip, vaccine, vet exam, behaviour evaluation, pet insurance & more!

Malcolm, 139532

139532-malcolm.JPG
Malcolm would love to be in the middle…of your living room! Malcolm is a friendly ~4 year old stray found in Winnipeg and brought to us April 13- without any identification we were unable to find his owner. His $79.00 adoption fee includes his neuter, vet exam, vaccine, microchip and more! As an added bonus, Malcolm was tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS (FIV) and was negative for both! Malcolm is slightly timid and may do best with quieter/calmer children.

Leia, 136253

136253-leia.JPG
Leia is a Princess of a kitty! With The WHS since January 30 when she was found as a frostbitten stray (hence the no ears!) in the North End of the city. Leia is a dainty, quiet cat who doesn’t do very well in the shelter, so she is available from her foster home, where she’s doing very well, but cannot stay permanently, however she is litterbox trained & enjoys the company of other cats. Leia is also Feline Leukemia & FIV negative! As she likes to roughhouse sometimes, she may be best with older kids who can keep up to her! As a longterm cat her adoption fee is reduced to $48.06, includes her spay, vet exam, pet insurance, microchip and more! Please contact Foster at 982-2049 to arrange a visit with Leia!

Nina, 143326

143326-nina.JPG
Nina is one of many baby domestic rats available for adoption at the humane society! Surrendered when the owner’s numbers at home got out of control, Nina and her friends are very social, easily handled & love to interact with people. Contrary to popular belief, domestic rats make terrific pets for families & kids due to their sociability and friendly nature- makes them less likely to bite. $6.95 adoption fee includes vet exam, 14-day health period, ownership counseling & handbook! Please come in to visit Nina & Friends!

She loves to play with a ball and be taken for nice long walks. She can be quite an exuberant girl so would do best with children 12+. She has played well with other dogs in the past. Foxy, 127976

Foxy is a sweet one year old female Husky/Labrador Retriever mix. She has a previous injury to her leg, but that does not stop her from getting around! She seems to like other dogs, but does need to have some down time to rest her leg. She is very energetic, and loves attention. Despite her leg, Foxy loves to run so would do best with home with a fence. Foxy should go to a home with children 10 years and up, so she can keep up with them! $159.00 adoption fee includes spay, microchip, vaccine, pet insurance & more!

Vinny, 139664

Vinny is a very affectionate 5 year old male cat. He loves to be petted and is just waiting for a nice lap to curl up on in his new home! He has previously got along well with children and other cats. Vinny requires a diet of 50% wet cat food and 50% good quality dry food to help keep his urine healthy! This adorable feline is waiting for adoption! $48.06 adoption fee includes his neuter, vet exam, microchip, pet insurance & more!

FROM JUNE 22-30 ONLY: Adult Cats $25.00! Kittens $75.00! Adult Dogs $75.00!

Samantha, 138823

138823-samantha.JPG
Samantha is a very intelligent 9-month old Shepherd who was found stray in Point Douglas back in March. Sam is an extremely loyal, laid back dog but finds our kennels a loud & stressful place. Samantha should be good with kids 6 years+- she has great family potential! Sam loves other dogs and did really well in her foster home. She has been here too long for such a good girl! Adoption fee includes her vet exam, spay, microchip, owner handbook & more! Sam is a staff favourite!

Noah, 142105

142105-noah.JPG
Noah is an exceptional cat whose owner surrendered him due to moving. Being at the shelter has been more stressful for Noah than most other cats. You see, Noah is blind. While he had adjusted very well, we know he needs more than we can provide for him here. Noah has done very well in his last home- providing the furniture is not rearranged & his litterbox and food/water are kept accessible, he makes a wonderful family cat. Adoption fee includes his vet exam, vaccine, microchip, owner handbook & more! Noah is a staff favourite!

[recreation]

Jasmine, 75629

075629-jasmine.JPG
Jasmine is a very sweet kitty whose owner purposefully let her loose. Thankfully she was taken in before anything bad happened. Jas is used to living with other cats but was a bit stressed in the shelter due to the constant activity. At 5.5 years old, Jasmine is who she is, so no surprises! As a longterm cat her fee is only $48.06. She is available to adopt from Best West Pet Foods on Regent Avenue, 663-7553.

Daisy, 121497

121497-daisy.JPG
This beautiful white German Shepherd needs a home- Daisy is incredibly smart & devoted as most Shepherds are, and desperately wants to please. Daisy has a pin in her leg from an old accident so requires a mostly-indoors home where she’ll be spoiled & loved. At 6.5 years old, Daisy deserves a terrific life. She likes other dogs & cats. As a German Shepherd, Daisy has strong territorial tendencies and will make a super watchdog for her owner- as a result she’s best for kids 12yrs+, only so she won’t be too protective with younger kids’ friends coming & going. $159.00 adoption fee includes spay, vet exam, microchip, pet insurance & more! Daisy is a staff favourite!

Simon, 140067

140067-simon.jpg
Simon is a wonderful 8-year old LabX from the RM of Tache. We were unable to reunite him with an owner. Simon likes other dogs and belly rubs. He loves his cookies, but can be a bit greedy with them, so we think he’s best for kids 16yrs+. Simon is very intelligent & with some training & direction will be a wonderful companion. As an older dog his adoption fee is only $69.00 and includes his vet exam, microchip, behaviour evaluation, pet insurance & much more!

Peanut, 92289

092289-peanut.jpg
Peanut is a sweet boy whose owner was no longer able to care for him and his 18year-old feline companion. Peanut is good with other cats but was a bit rough on the older kitty. At 6 years old, this mature Abyssinian mix needs a home! Abbys are known for their active, intelligent and loving personalities. Peanut is very easygoing and easily handled. $79.00 adoption fee includes his vet exam, pet insurance, vaccine & more!

Golden Girl, 140089

140089-golden-girl.jpg
“Goldie” is a very sweet, gentle ~13 year old Labrador Retriever who was found stray near the river in Fort Richmond at the end of April- she was wet & smelly & perhaps swam across the river from St. Vital. Without a lost report or ID, we have been unable to return her to her owner. Golden Girl is very calm and healthy for her age. She seems good with cats & dogs & deserves a special retirement home. As an older dog, a very special fee applies to the right home. Fee includes vet exam, vaccine, microchip, 6 weeks of pet insurance & more!

Borus, 140411

140411-boris.jpg
Borus is a friendly, laid back ~2.5 year old male who was surrendered by his owner in May due to moving & allergies. Borus likes dogs and with a proper introduction will probably be good with cats, too. Adoption fee of $79.00 includes Borus’ neuter, vaccine, vet exam, 6 weeks of pet insurance, microchip & more!

Copper, 130480

130480-copper1.JPG
Copper is a friendly, active and high energy 1.5 year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix. Copper came in from Cross Lake, MB. in October with an old fracture to his right femur- he needed surgery. Thankfully our veterinary clinic was able to perform the surgery and sent Copper to a foster home to recover. Sometimes his leg causes Copper some grief but he gets around on it pretty well. Copper likes to play & fetch and likes other dogs. Copper needs a loving home with kids 12years+ as he can get a bit excited as he’s still learning manners & self-control. $88.06 adoption fee includes vet exam, neuter, tattoo, microchip & 6 weeks of pet insurance!

Binx, 118346

118346-binx.JPG
Binx is a playful 1½ year old boy. He enjoys affection, and likes to be petted, but does enjoy alone time as well. He is quite playful, and very active! He is best suited for an adult only home as he can play a bit rough. He just gets so excited! Binx does seem to like other cats. Binx is looking for the perfect home that will love him forever! As a long term resident the adoption fee for Binx is only $48.06, and includes vet exam, spay, tattoo, microchip & 6 weeks of pet plan insurance!
