PetLvr Mailbag: Entertaining an Inside Cat

Dear PetLvr Mailbag,

We moved a couple years ago, and the cat went from being an outside/inside cat to wholly an inside cat. He seems really really bored though, looking for ways to help him transition easier- he’s not getting any exercise and he’s gained a lot of weight. I’ve tried a lot of different toys, but nothing seems to amuse him.

How can I help him be happy and healthy in his new lifestyle?

PetLvr Mailbag: Canine Oral Fixation is Curable

Dear  PetLvr Mailbag,

One of my dogs compulsively licks. He’s always licking at my hands, face, ear, arms, legs, anything he can. Whenever I pet him, he just tries to lick my hand. How the hell do I get him to stop? I’ve tried scolding, yelling, flicking him and saying “no lick!” but nothing works.

Any idea?

PetLvr Mailbag: Stung by a Bad Breeder

Dear PetLvr Mailbag,

I recently bought a registered Yorkie from a breeder and after 3 weeks and about $1,000.00 vet bill, we have found out that the puppy died of liver failure he was born with. The breeder has offered to give us another puppy, but we can’t trust the breeder.

Is their any way they are responsible for our vet bills and to return our money? Also, is there someone here in Central Texas we can report them to so future buyers and their kids don’t get heartbroken like us?

PetLvr Mailbag: Dogs, Children, Resource Guarding, and Boundary Setting

Dear Jelena …

Is it ok for a dog to growl when they have their bone in their dog bed and a child approaches in a manner that the dog views as possible attempt to take the bone away?

What is appropriate behavior by a dog to warn a child that the child is pushing boundaries?

Signed,
Emrld
