Shady, 133369

133369-shady.JPG
Shady is a very smart and eager dog who was adopted as a puppy; however, her adopter did not realize the time a young puppy needs in order to become a trained, well-adjusted member of the family, and returned her. Shady likes to play with stuffed toys and loves to play with other happy and silly dogs! This spayed female Norwegian Elkhound mix is about 1.5 years old and will do well in an active home. She’s best suited to kids 12 years+ as she is still learning. Adoption fee includes her spay, vaccine, Rabies, pet insurance and more!

Sweetie, 154981

154981-sweetie.JPG
Sweetie is a shy and quiet cat who needs a quiet and stable home. She did well in her foster home; she is likely best suited as the only pet in her home and is best suited to teens/adults who understand her quiet ways. At just over 5 years old, Sweetie would love to go ‘home again’ really soon! Sweetie was surrendered when she was found stray in St.Vital on February 22. Adoption fee includes her spay, vaccine, Rabies, FIV/FeLV test, 14-day health period & more!

Louis, 104386

104386-louis.JPG
Louis is a frisky 3.5 year old Domestic Short Hair (with a cute bobbed tail!) whose owner surrendered him in early March as he was too rough for the kids. Louis is a feisty fella who would do best in a home with adults only- someone out there must be looking for a cat with lots of spunk & purrsonality! He might be a good choice for a rural home where he can hunt & wander safely. Louis’ adoption fee includes his neuter, vet exam, vaccine, Rabies, pet insurance & more!

Hunter, 112174

112174-hunter.JPG
Hunter is a big fella used to living with other cats and kids. Hunter is a very nice and friendly kitty who has tested negative for feline AIDS and feline leukemia- he’s also been vaccinated against Rabies since being surrendered to us in early March. Hunter would really like to be adopted soon and would probably be a good choice if you have kids/cats in the home already. Adoption fee includes vet exam, neuter, 14-day health period, pet insurance, owner handbook and more!

The shelter is closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We are open regular hours Easter Monday

Wanda, 91054

091054-wanda.JPG
Wanda is hoping she has better luck next time…. She was adopted as a kitten in 2004 and found as a stray in the Elmwood area in January. Wanda’s registered owner had given her away a couple of years ago, but didn’t know to whom. Wanda is a friendly, outgoing and happy ~4.5 year old cat who has been patiently waiting for a home for over 2 months- she needs an address of her own! As a longterm cat, her adoption fee has been reduced to $39.50 and includes her vet exam, spay, vaccine, Rabies, pet insurance & more!

Fella Roo, 121887

121887-fella-roo.JPG
Fella is a sweet and cuddly Border Collie mix who loves to go for car rides! This busy and active ~2 year old dog was brought to us when his owner found him to be too much work. Fella Roo is a great walker on leash, likes to play with other dogs and is very cuddly and affectionate. He seems good with cats! Fella is a busy dog and can be pushy sometimes, so he’s best for older kids. At ~50lbs he is full grown and requires an active owner to keep him busy & happy. His adoption fee includes his neuter, vet exam, vaccine, Rabies, pet insurance & more!

Keith, 152971

152971-keith.jpg
Keith is a really sweet, very affectionate and goofy Lab mix. Keith had been fending for himself in the Ste. Anne, MB area for about four months until someone was able to catch him. Keith is a real charmer and has the lovey-dovey goofy nature many Labs have. He loves belly rubs, cookies and giving kisses. Keith can be a pushy dog and hasn’t been taught how to share his treats so we think he’s best for kids 16 years+ because he requires a confident leader to learn from. Adoption fee includes his neuter, vet exam, Rabies vaccine, pet insurance and more!

Blue & Furless, 153433/439

153433-blue.JPG
153439-furless.JPG

Blue & Furless are like Lady & the Tramp- they belong together! Their owner moved into a no-pets facility and was not allowed to being these two kitties. Blue is a 9 year old neutered male Seal Point Siamese and Furless is a 6 year old spayed female Domestic Medium Hair. Furless is kind of shy and reliant upon Blue; both cats have been around other cats & dogs before and are best suited to quieter, gentle children. We would love for this cuddly kitty couple to be adopted soon; they require a home together. Adopt both for $80.00!

Macho 151241

151241-macho.JPG
Macho is an incredible cat who was found stray on Church Avenue in November- for some reason, this handsome fellow keeps getting passed over for adoption. Macho is about 3 years old, very friendly and sociable as most Tom cats are and when he purrs has a very loud ‘motor’! This big guy is negative for FIV and FeLV, blood diseases cats can get from going outdoors. Macho is a staff favorite and a hit with the teens at our Roots & Shoots educational program- he will make a great addition to almost any family. Adopt as a longtimer for $39.50!

Bo 152812

152812-bo.JPG
Bo is a complete sweetheart who simply doesn’t fare well in the hectic shelter environment- this boy is used to the comforts of home & family! Bo, a Flat Coated Retriever mix, is one of those really smart and sensitive dogs we receive all-too-often who become stressed and anxious here. He needs to be adopted soon for his own mental health. When out of his kennel/room, Bo is a very low-key, laid back and well mannered doggy who has great manners and listens well- does he sound like someone you’re looking for? As he can be a timid boy, we suggest he’s best for kids 12yrs+; we know he’ll make a terrific companion for his new family.

153680-lexus.JPG
Lexus is a really great ~ 8 month-old dog with good manners and a gentle disposition. Lexus likes other dogs and has lived with 2 cats before. Lexus is a very cuddly and affectionate dog who likes to be hugged & get belly rubs. She’s going to make a great addition to a family- hopefully one day very soon.

Kobi, 151304

151304-kobi.JPG
Kobi was brought in due to allergies in his family. Kobi likes other cats and likes to play- he can be a very frisky boy so may be best suited to older kids. 1 ½ year-old Kobi would love to go home to start his new life. As a longterm cat his adoption fee has been reduced to $39.50!

Ebony, 152566

152566-ebony.jpg
Ebony is a very dear and sweet older Labrador Retriever who was surrendered due to allergies. This 10 year old Golden Oldie is still quite energetic and will require a relatively active owner, preferbaly someone who is experienced with the breed. Ebony likes other dogs and would love to be part of a family again. Adopt as senior for $80.00.

Boomer, 149940

149940-boomer.JPG
Boomer is a smart Akita mix found as a stray in November in the West K. area. Boomer likes other active and goofy dogs but we supect he’d do best withotu cats. As he’s still a ‘work in progress’ he’s best suited to kids 12yrs+ until he learns more manners. He has a ton of potential and is a favoriate among the staff. As a longterm dog, his adoption fee is $94.50. Boomer deserves a great home.

Gabi, 150009

150009-gabi.JPG
The WHS needs your help to find Gabi a home! This adorable 4-month-old female German Shepherd suffered horrible injuries as a puppy, resulting in a broken facial bone and leg. As an 8-week-old puppy, it was a lot to go through! She has been in and out of foster care while recovering from her injuries. As you may imagine, she will have some special needs as she grows up. She’ll always have limited vision and may end up completely blind. Gabi is a playful, spirited and happy puppy who longs for a home again. She loves cats! We suspect she’d do well with another calm, well trained dog at home who can kind of act as her ‘seeing eye buddy’- it may also help to fine tune manners and socialization, which are coming along nicely!

Nooners, 87989

087989-nooner.JPG
Nooners is part of a dashing duo of cats who need a home together. Nooners is just over 7 years old; his best pal is Nixon, a 4 year old shorthaired white cat. Both were surrendered to us due to allergies. We’d absolutely love to keep both cats together- joint adoption fee is $80.00 and includes their vet exams, first vaccines, pet insurance & more!

Pepper, 115515

115515-pepper.jpg
Pepper is a good girl who came to us in December after being left in an apartment suite when her owner moved away. Pepper is not quite 3 years old- she likes male cats but would prefer to be the only female cat in her next home. We suspect Pepper will be happiest with older children. Her adoption fee includes her spay, tattoo, vaccine, pet insurance, Rabies vaccine & more!

Yobbo, 150445

150445-yobbo.jpg
Yobbo is a ~3 year old male Australian Shepherd mix found at Grand Beach in November, suspected of having an injured leg or paw. Our veterinary staff were able to determine that thankfully he was not injured, but born with one leg quite a bit shorter than the other- so it appears he favours one leg when he’s standing. We don’t think it will cause him much grief in the future provided he’s kept at a healthy weight. We also found Yobbo was positive for heartworm- he was able to be treated here and we think he’ll be just fine! Yobbo likes cats and dogs and shows great family potential.
