WHS Ad - September 3, 2008 - Please Adopt Me

Abbey, 149194

Abbey is a sweet and playful ~9 year old Labrador Retriever whose owner had no time for her. Abbey likes to play with other dogs who can keep up with her! Abbey is an athletic dog who will require an active home/family to keep her happy- she is a very lively 9 year old dog. We think Abbey may be best suited to a home with older teens/adults and without small pets. Abbey is a great dog used to a family setting- being at the shelter has been a stressful experience for her and we’d love to see her adopted soon! Adoption fee includes her vet exam, vaccine, pet insurance and more!

Gizmo, 162890

Gizmo was surrendered by his owner due to allergies. Gizmo is used to living with another cat (whose since been adopted) and we’d love for him to find his way into a loving home very soon. This handsome, easygoing fella may be a good choice for a home with another cat for company. Adoption fee includes his vaccine, vet exam, FIV/FeLV test, pet insurance and more!

WHS Ad - August 27, 2008 - Please Adopt Me

Angus, 112142

Angus is a very wonderful, however unlucky, cat who needs a permanent home! Found in a garbage bin in 2005, this longhaired lovely was redeemed to his owner only to be brought back in July 2008 as a stray. His owner wasn’t able to pick him up, so we began a new search for a new home for Angus. Angus is ~5 years old, has previously been good with children and seems to like other cats- a purrfect fit for your home perhaps? Adoption fee includes his vet exam, pet insurance, vaccine and a lifetime of friendship!

Egypt & Eclipse, 157985/987

Egypt & Eclipse were surrendered by their owner when she moved to a no-pets-allowed complex. Very frightened, it took them several days to adjust, but they were still very out of sorts. They needed foster care and thankfully a home was available. In foster care for about 2 weeks, we found that these lovely ladies are quiet & well mannered in a home setting and will likely do best in a quieter, stable home. Keep these girls together and adopt as a pair for only $79.00- fee includes their vet exams, spays, vaccines and more!

Monique, 157854

Monique was found in the St. James area after she’d been meowing outside someone’s door all day and night. Despite being spayed, she had no ID for us to trace to an owner. Monique is a great cat who staff, volunteers and visitors are very fond of. Monique was found with some hairloss and after a period of time in her foster home, it was determined she likely has food allergies; her condition is now being mainly controlled by diet. This longterm, extra-friendly girl will be adopted for $39.50; fee includes health exam, pet insurance and more!

Alley, 161709

Alley’s owner had to move into a no-pets-allowed apartment block and was forced to surrender her beloved pet to the shelter to find another home. Alley is a nice, laidback spayed female who deserves another chance. Alley is easy to handle and friendly; at 5 years old, this mature kitty is used to living in a home setting and we are confident she will adjust quickly to her new home. Adoption fee includes her health exam, vaccine, pet insurance and more!

WHS Ad - July 23, 2008 - Please Adopt Me

Mickey, 159607

Mickey is a 3-month-old neutered male who came in with another kitten and two adult cats when their owner didn’t return to pick them up from a relative who was cat-sitting. Mickey was in foster care for the last while as he was initially too young for adoption. Mickey is one of over 200 cats and kittens needing homes at The WHS. Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, health exam, vaccine, pet insurance and more!

Cadet, 158567

Cadet was a stray brought in from the Elmwood area in early May; despite having a collar on he was never claimed. Cadet had little training and manners when he came to us; our Behaviour department has been working hard on preparing him for life in a home setting. This smart 1 ½ year old Husky mix has great potential with the right owner; he seems to like calm, respectful dogs but will require a home without small pets. Cadet needs an adult home where he will receive the consistency and education required to turn him into a well-rounded dog, with someone confident and experienced with dogs. Cadet is available for adoption from our Behaviour office, so please ask to see him when you arrive. Adoption fee includes his neuter, health exam, vaccine, pet insurance, City of Winnipeg license and more!

Tweety, Gem & Sophie, 160004/161445/160005

Cats and kittens everywhere! It’s definitely summer because the shelter is full with cats and kittens needing homes. Tweety, Gem and Sophie came in too young for adoption and have been in foster care until they were old enough to find permanent homes. Cat and kitten adoption fees include spay/neuter, tattoo, health exam, vaccine, pet insurance & more! If you can’t adopt, please consider fostering! Call 982-2049 or foster@humanesociety.mb.ca for more information on becoming a foster parent

Bailey, 159629

Bailey is sad to be here because his owner died; he is longing for a loving owner again. Bailey is an 8-year old, housebroken Labrador Retriever who is a very active and energetic boy; he loves to play with other dogs if they can keep up to him!! He also enjoys playing, walking with a toy in his mouth and generally being around people. As a dog used to a home setting, his time in the shelter has been stressful and we’d love to place him very soon. Adoption fee is $80.00 and includes his health exam, vaccine, pet insurance & more!!

WHS Ad - July 8, 2008 - Please Adopt Me

Catherine, 157897

Catherine is a very sweet, loving 8 year old domestic medium haired cat. She was found outside in April, and lucky for her someone brought here to us to find her a new home. Catherine will need regular weekly brushing to keep her lovely coat looking gorgeous. All the staff here has fallen in love with her, and we know as soon as you meet her you will too!! Catherine’s adoption fee has been reduced as an older gal to only $40.00 - this includes her spay, vet exam, pet insurance, ear tattoo and more! Catherine is here waiting for you!!

Maggie, 160614

Maggie is a one year old shepherd mix. Maggie was brought to us when her owners were moving and could not take her with them. Not only is Maggie beautiful, but she is very smart too! Maggie needs an owner who will dedicate the time to help her learn, and keep her very active so she can be at her best. We think Maggie would do best in a home with no cats or small animals. Maggie has proven to play well with other dogs while staying at the WHS. We know once you meet her, you will never forget (and maybe take her home too)!

WHS Ad - June 30, 2008 - Please Adopt Me

The Winnipeg Humane Society will be closed Canada Day July 1, 2008 .. here are this week’s ads!

Barney 156833

Barney came to the WHS in the beginning of April as a stray. He is a bit shy, but this place can be intimidating! He warms up to people after he gets to know you, and will give you kisses on your nose if you let him go at his own pace!! Our staff here has found him very easy to handle, so don’t let his being shy stop you from giving him that fantastic home he deserves! Barney’s adoption fee has been reduced as a long-term resident to only $39.50- this includes her spay, vet exam, pet insurance, ear tattoo and more! Barney is just waiting to give someone all of his love.

Sassy 154114

Sassy was brought in to the WHS very dirty and banged up from being outside, in the beginning of February. After spending some time in foster care to gain weight and get some much deserved TLC she is ready for adoption! While in foster she played well with another cat and a dog. She loves to be petted but doesn’t care to be a lap cat so much. Sassy’s adoption fee has been reduced as a long-term resident to only $39.50- this includes her spay, vet exam, pet insurance, ear tattoo and more!

WHS Ad - June 25, 2008 - Please Adopt Me

Tye, 44958

Tye needs a lucky charm to get him into a loving, responsible and permanent home. This unlucky feline has been through the shelter a number of times through no fault of his own. He was last brought to us after being removed from a vacant home in the core area of downtown at the end of May; he was lucky to be alive, with barely any food and access only to dirty water. Tye is 10 years-old and needs a retirement home where he’ll be spoiled and loved like he’s never known before. Senior adoption fee of $40.00 includes his vet exam, pet insurance, 14-day health period and more! Help this boy find the love he deserves

Taboo, 154602

Taboo is a friendly, independent girl found in the dead of winter in the RM of Tache; she was in terrible shape and needed help! This poor ~2 year-old cat had frostbitten ears, was missing fur, had bloody ears due to bad earmite infestation, she was dehydrated and had an injured back foot. It was obvious that she’d been outside for sometime, fending for herself without anyone to look after her. Taboo has been with us since February- too long to be in a shelter! Taboo’s adoption fee has been reduced as a longterm resident to only $39.50- this includes her spay, vet exam, pet insurance, ear tattoo and more! She needs to learn what love is.

WHS Ad - June 18, 2008 - Please Adopt Me

Sam, 149579

Sam is a very smart and affectionate dog who was surrendered as a puppy in October 2007- his owner was moving and needed a place to bring Sam, his mom and four siblings. Sam came down with a skin infection that was treated in foster care; while being treated in foster care, he became ill with Parvovirus and was successfully treated for this at the shelter. Sam continued his treatment for his skin infection and has since recovered well. You’d never guess he’s had such bad luck- he looks fantastic and is back in good health. This 8-month-old Labrador Retriever mix deserves a permanent address! Sam likes other dogs & cats, is good with kids (best for 8yrs+) and loves car rides!

Natasha & Petunia, 147968, 150166

Natasha and Petunia were found as stray kittens and fostered until they were able to come back for adoption. Now these lovely 9-month-old ladies need a home of their own- it would be great if we were able to adopt both of them together but they are available to adopt singly. These dog- and cat-friendly cats are available for adoption at Petcetera McPhillips Street - Garden City, 204.339-7135 and as longterm cats their adoption fee is $39.50 each!

WHS Ad - June 11, 2008 - Please Adopt Me

Murphy, 153905

Goood Morning! As you can tell, I was woken up just prior to this photo being taken! I am a spunky and opinionated kitty who would do best in an adults-only home as I like to roughhouse. I like to chase moving things so might be a good choice as a mouser/rodent deterrent! I am a big boy who would benefit from losing some weight. Murphy was surrendered in January- he’s been with us for too long!- and deserves a permanent home of his very own. Adopt as a longterm cat, $39.50 fee.

Squeaky, 158049

Squeaky, 8 years old, and her pal Piper, ~4 years old, were brought at the end of April when their owner died; there were no relatives able to take them in. We’d really love to be able to keep these girls together as they are quite reliant on each other and have been through a lot. If you have extra room in your heart & home, consider Squeaky & Piper- they deserve a great life. Adopt as a pair, $80.00.
