First, let me tell you how my dog became my dog.
Dukie belonged to my husband’s son. He was a birthday gift to my stepson from his girlfriend. Unfortunately, my stepson was not able to raise a dog, so he gave him to my husband.
Dukie is a black lab, a big but lean black lab. He is loveable, gentle and funny. He thrived in our household because we already had two other dogs, one golden retriever, and one other black lab.

by Ruth Bird
A fellow blogger was always mentioning “puggles” to me. Then one day I went for a walk with my 3 dogs and my neighbour and her dog. She mentioned the labradoodles and goldendoodles to me. She had seen them on a t.v. show.
So, I decided to do some investigating. For those who want some information about these dogs, but not long scientific reports, here is my article. I went on a long internet journey, and I found out some amazing facts.

Goldens and Black Labrador Retrievers,
Today I fell into a trap that I should never have allowed myself to get into. I actually trusted my dog, my Nikki, a 3 year golden retriever.
Nikki is an amazingly affectionate dog, even more than normal for a golden retriever. She is gentle, good natured and behaves pretty well.

If it’s not possible to bring your dog along on your vacation, you’ll have to arrange for his care while you’re away. One choice is to have a reliable person come to your home several times a day to feed, water, exercise, and spend time with your dog. You could always hire a professional pet-sitter, these services are springing up in many places. This however is a whole separate topic. You would need lots of references before you could trust someone to come and spend so much time with your pet.
Another consideration is that dogs have a tendency to “look” for their masters. So make sure that your dog will not be able to escape to find you, wherever you chose to keep your dog. Dogs can be great escape artists, and will practically do anything to look for their masters.

Does your dog think he owns you?

I once again feel compelled to write about dog training. Our dogs need to know and obey at least the very basic obedience commands, commands that will keep our dogs safe.
Today, much more so than ever before, dogs are very much included in daily activities. Families take their dogs with them on family outings. Young people take their dogs out to-well, wherever they go. And the golden middle aged couples seem to take their dogs with them everywhere they go.
