Attention All Animal Lovers
Hartz invites pet lovers to nominate local shelters & food banks for holiday shipments.
The Hartz Mountain Corporation, the leading U.S. pet supplies company, has generously agreed to donate $3 million worth of Hartz pet supplies to animal shelters in the U.S. and Canada. $2 million has already been donated, but they need your help finding more shelters that will benefit from the additional $1 million worth of Hartz pet supplies.
The economic downturn has had a profound effect on the financial welfare of families, many of whom have been forced to surrender their beloved pets to shelters. However, those same shelters report that donations are down by as much as 30%. The Hartz Shelter Program, which offers a range of pet supplies such as dog biscuits and bones, meat treats, and rawhide, etc., will help shelters feed and care for abandoned animals and enable at-risk families to keep their pets safe at home.
Consumers who know of a shelter that has a need and the capacity for 2,000 pet supply products can nominate them by emailing hartzshelterheroes@hartz.com. Emails should include both contact information for the “Hero Sponsor” and the shelter’s name, address and telephone number. Hartz will contact them both about next steps for the donation.
With just a little effort, you can make a big difference
The Hartz Shelter Donation Program offers a range of pet supplies for cats, dogs, birds and small animals; including dog biscuits and bones, meat treats, rawhide, chews, puppy pads, collars and leashes, bowls, toys, grooming products and bedding, flea and tick treatments, vitamins and dental care products, cat treats, bird seed, rabbit and small animal food.
Whether it’s full-to-capacity shelters or struggling families trying to cope, they’re both feeling the stress and strain. To come to the aid of our nation’s homeless pets and help Hartz deliver supplies in time for the holiday season, we’re calling out to pet lovers to be local Heroes by putting Hartz in touch with local shelters and food banks who could benefit from a donation of supplies.

Here’s how you can help, by contacting shelters and food banks where you live and telling them about the Hartz Shelter Donation Program. Print this page, or download the press release, Hartz Shelter Donation Program Pledges $3,000,000 In Kind Donation, to bring with you when you go to visit shelters. This will help explain the program and how shelters in U.S. and Canada have already benefited. Young Heroes could team up with friends or ask their teachers if they could make it a class project.

Track Their Progress Here – at time of this post – Hartz has already shipped products valued at $1,623,138. That’s more than half the total pledged amount. From now through the holidays, donations will be sent out on a first come, first served basis, until the remaining $1,376,862 of supplies are shipped. So hurry and contact your local shelter – make sure your shelter is one of the first requests Hartz receives!
