Although we already celebrated our Thanksgiving Day back on the second monday of October up here in Canada, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November and falls THIS Thursday November 26, 2009. I thought I would point out a few things before this celebration, as a courtesy:

* Pets Go Home for the Holidays in National Program – Petfinder.com is looking for at least a million people who want company for Christmas. The online pet adoption database is teaming up with CBS and the producers of the Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie “A Dog Named Christmas” for a campaign to foster pets for the holidays.
Black Friday Adoption
Generally, the day after the U.S.A. Thanksgiving Day is called “Black Friday” and starts off the Christmas shopping season. A lot of people rush to stores in the hopes of getting extra discounted sale prices on Black Friday, but if you check your local newspaper .. you will see a lot of your local pet rescue and adoption centres are having their own Black Friday special! I think it’s a great idea (if you are planning on adopting a pet anyway)
A lot of shelters are offering discounted adoption fees if you come in this Friday to adopt a BLACK cat, dog, or other animal. Some examples in the news are:

* “Black Cat Friday” A Spin-Off to Holiday Shopping
* Sale reduces adoption fees for black pets during November
