reiki catHave you ever wondered what Reiki is and what it’s use for? If you attend pet shows or pet expos, you might find practitioners there offering Reiki sessions. Well, Reiki is a form of energy healing, which can be performed on any living organism that is willing to participate. This Japanese technique uses the unlimited universal life-force energy, which is believed to be a part of every living thing. Visiting your veterinarian is important, but you can supplement traditional treatment with alternative therapies too. So the next time you have an opportunity to treat your pet, you might want to give it a try.

Recently, Actress Jennifer Aniston was interviewed about her relationship with her 13-year-old dog Norman. She brings him along to film sets, and it is said that she even spoils Norman with Reiki sessions, massages and acupuncture since he has aching joints. Giving your pet the celebrity treatment every once in a while can help strengthen your bond, and it may even improve your pet’s well being and quality of life on a mind, body and spiritual level.

So what happens during a Reiki healing? The certified Reiki Master will focus the Universal Energy onto your pet. As with any type of treatment, it’s beneficial to make the practitioner aware of any health problems such as fatigue, poor appetite, sore hips, etc. After the Reiki healer receives permission from your pet’s higher being, he/she will transmit the energy over your pet’s body in a systematic fashion. Although this therapy is a holistic alternative, it should not be a replacement for urgent medical care.

Becoming a Reiki Master can be a rewarding experience if you’re open to this healing technique. However, there are many qualified Reiki Masters who specialize in pets that can help you bond and care for your animal. You might even find a local veterinarian who implements holistic therapies along with Western medicine.
